This is one of those films that works when you watch it snowed in on a Sunday afternoon. I remember liking it a lot as a kid, my wife still does and has been trying to get me to re-watch it for years now. Finally, I submitted. The comedy has not aged with time, and feels a bit flat. The ups and downs of the story feel forced and fabricated (which they are - from what I know, none of the hardships they faced in the film really occurred). The last bit of the film works really well despite all that. It's exciting and heart-warming. If you've never seen it, it might be worth a check out, but go in expecting it to be cheesy otherwise you'll be disappointed.
