I was lucky enough to get a chance to sit down with the wonderful Mr. Kris Holden-Ried to do one of these interviews. He's the star of my film The Untitled Work of Paul Shepard and he'll be attending our screening and Q&A tomorrow evening following the 9:20pm screening. So be there if you want to meet Kris in addition to other members of our lovely cast including Zoie Palmer, Mary Krohnert, and Tricia Braun!
the rambling thoughts of a young filmmaker and the discoveries he makes through film, life, and everything in-between...

Three 2 Five Questions: Mary Krohnert
It's been a while since I've done one of these - I have another that will be up in the days to come - but for now, it's all about the lovely Mary Krohnert! One of the stars of my film The Untitled Work of Paul Shepard which is having it's theatrical release starting this Friday at the Carlton in Toronto. 4:25pm and 9:20pm daily! Mary will be at the Friday night screening for part of the Q&A.
So the audio, as usual, is what it is, I did this outside of the Film Canteen at the Bell Lightbox. I hope you enjoy it! Mary will also be appearing in an upcoming episode of Flashpoint, and Little Mosque on the Prarie.

Three 2 Five Questions: Christine Horne
I have a notebook in my office where I keep a list of names of actors that impress me, ones that I'll hopefully be lucky enough to work with at some point. When I came home from seeing The Stone Angel the first thing I did was add Christine Horne's name to that list. Then, sometime later, when we were casting The Untitled Work of Paul Shepard, I was delighted to see her name on our audition list. If you live in Toronto and you're a theatre goer you probably recognize her from various theatrical productions - just this past summer she was Juliet in this year's Dream in High Park production of Romeo & Juliet, and last year she won a Dora Award for Turn of the Screw.
Without further delay I present the interview I did with her. Keep in mind, as per usual, the audio isn't spectacular and the location was fairly under lit.
Mid way through the interview Christine mentions something that I should share a link to. Click here for that.
UPDATE!
The lovely people over at The Mind Reels found the commercial of Christine! Here it is below...

TUWOPS - Zoie Palmer nominated for ACTRA Award's best female performance!
It is my extremely proud honor to announce that Zoie Palmer has been nominated for 'best female performance' ACTRA Award for her role in my film The Untitled Work of Paul Shepard. Pictured above, an outtake from the scene which I'm pretty darn certain went a long way in getting her nominated. If you want you can check out the various articles that mention her nomination, amongst the other nominees. Here are some links thus far:
The CBC
The Toronto Star
The Amherst Daily News
I love Zoie Palmer the actor only second to Zoie Palmer the person. I'm extremely fortunate in how many amazing people I've met and formed friendships with from having made this film, and Zoie is no exception. If you follow the tag below you'll find an interview I did with her back in the fall for my Three 2 Five series. Working with Zoie is a delight because she revels in playing, in discovering, and yet she so respects the work that's come before her. She's the kind of actress that is going to work forever, and be in great demand, because of that and many many other traits.
It goes without saying that I think every single member of our cast deserved to be nominated for their fantastic performances this film, but I think Zoie represents us all well, and I appreciate the extra attention that the film will get from having this honor bestowed upon it as Zoie.

Three 2 Five Questions: Dominic Desjardins & Rayne Zukerman
When I was at the Sudbury International Film Festival this fall I had the pleasure of meeting Rayne Zukerman the producer of a film that I absolutely fell in love with, Le divan du monde (Everybody's Couch). We kept in touch and she was certain that her partner, the writer/director of the film, Dominic and I would hit it off should we meet. So today ventured over to their place for brunch and a mini-play-date between our children - and she was right. It's nice to meet like-minded people in similar places in their careers (although it's worth noting that Dominic shot his second feature this fall, hence why he was not at Sudbury with Rayne). They have a lovely baby, Balzac, and of course we have our dashing Ephraim, and I think they enjoyed one another as well. In fact when you hear some toddler-babbling in the background, that's Ephraim - he even makes a little cameo here. I hope you guys are enjoying these interviews as much as I'm enjoying doing them - more to come in the new year! And do yourself a favour and check our Dominic and Rayne's film should you ever see it in your filmic travels - it's a gem!

Three 2 Five Questions: Katie Boland
I have to say that I quite enjoy doing these little segments. Here we have the lovely Katie Boland, a young Canadian actress whom I met in the summer through mutual interest. She recently participated in a reading we did for what, hopefully, will be my next film. You'll probably recognize her from Atom Egoyan's Adoration, or The Zack Files, or Terminal City, or the upcoming Daydream Nation which premiered at TIFF this year. In addition to all of this Katie is a pretty talented writer in her own right, which is featured in her blog is on my list to the side, but you can also there there by clicking this link.
I hope you dig the interview - again, the audio is as-is, I tend to do these things in coffee shops which are generally busy and a bit loud - hopefully it doesn't take away from it too much. Enjoy!

Three 2 Five Questions: The Twins
Finally I have another installment for my interview series. Apologies for the delay. I'm flattered by how much support I have for this series and how many people have told me how much they like the idea of it. Although I think that the majority of my interviews will feature people that work in the arts there really is no rhyme or reason to some of the people that I'll choose to interview, case in point, below I have my six year old nephews. I hope you dig it. Special thanks to Tom Kratz for additional inspiration on some of the questions. Enjoy!

Three 2 Five Questions: Zoie Palmer
This is a new segment that I'm going to start doing on the blog and I was fortunate to have Zoie Palmer be my first guest and test things out. I just bought a new camera, the Canon Rebel T2i DSLR and I've been testing it out - so please cut me just a bit of slack as the focus isn't exactly perfect through-out the entire thing - and the audio is, well - it's what it is - the place we were in was loud and I didn't have proper sound gear - going to look into that for next time. Also I'm trying to work out the best conversion and way to upload to blogger with video (it looks a lot better than what's below) The idea is that I'll ask each person at least three to five questions somewhat related to what they do, because I won't give them the questions ahead of time they can chose not to answer a question if they'd like.
So like I mentioned, the first up is Zoie Palmer. For those of you who don't know Zoie she's a pretty damn fantastic girl. She's been all over Canadian television from Instant Star, The Guard, and more recently Lost Girl. But more importantly she's in my film The Untitled Work of Paul Shepard. These segments will be added pretty randomly and I hope to get a cross-section of the arts community in on them, not just actors. If there's anyone you'd like me to include, or if you yourself would like to be included, let me know and I'll see what I can do!
Also, I'm including the link to the music video Zoie referred to above. Click here.
