England - Day Two

EPHRAIM FIRST: Ephraim slept in! For the first time ever WE had to wake him in order to get to the train on time.

Fun fact: Our hotel has an alley that leads RIGHT to the train platform. Sweet!

EPHRAIM FIRST: A train ride!

And then… potential TRAGEDY! With our hotel "upgrade" we got free 'sparkling' water. (It didn't sparkle), and we decided to bring it with us on the train. And we packed it in my backpack. The one with my laptop in it. Once on the train Emily said, "Hey… your bag is wet." Ahhhh!!! Opened it up, laptop was wet. Books were all wet. Opened up the laptop. The screen came up and then died. And it wouldn't turn back on. Major major major panic. Felt ill. Wiped it down and then back into bag.

Train ride went pretty flawlessly and Ephraim, as per usual, behaved very well. When we got to the platform Erik & Amy were waiting for us. And then we squeezed our gigantic suitcase and all of our stuff into their car. Literally I don't think we could have fit a single more thing.

They took us to where we're staying, we've rented a place called Stable Cottage. It's goddamn gorgeous. I'll post pictures ASAP.

Erik and Amy were amazing, they took us around Dorchester, the town near where we're staying, and we went for lunch, and had "toasties" which is essentially grilled cheese with whatever you want in it - we got an egg, and it was a lot of cheese. Like, heart-attack inducing amounts of cheese. We got groceries and then came back. Checked on the laptop. It started up! And then made gurgling noises. And then… was fine. So fingers crossed. I'm going to buy a big-ass data stick tomorrow to back up some essentials just in case.

It was nice to be able to cook a home meal. Now I'm sitting outside and typing in our gorgeous garden. Tomorrow we get our rental car from the car-hire. It'll be very interesting getting used to driving on the other side of the road, on the other side of the car. If you don't hear from me again I died trying...
